Chiropractic Manipulation
Chiropractors, use a type of "hands-on" therapy
called joint manipulation (or adjustment). During an adjustment,
chiropractors use their hands to apply a controlled, force to
a joint. The manipulation also stimulates the nervous system
to help reduce pain and relax local musculature. The noise that
can be heard with an adjustment is that of release of nitrogen
gas from a joint capsule. It has been researched and documented
that motion is restored following an adjustment but no bones
are moved for this to happen. Chiropractors may also use massage
and stretching to relax muscles that are shortened or in spasm.
Vertebral Subluxation
A subluxation is characterized by a complex interaction of
changes which occur in the spine, the joints and their associated
structures. This affects five distinct parts of the body, spinal
mechanics, neurological flow, muscle health, hystological changes
(i.e. tissue changes) and bony changes (i.e. arthritis).
Chiropractors are able to recognize these
subluxations by palpating the spine and then bring a correction
to the area through adjusting. This allows the body to
initiate its own healing mechanisms without the use of harmful
drugs and eventually restore itself to proper function.
1. Structural Subluxation: a compression,
or squeezing of the nerve as it passes through the opening
between the vertebrae.
It is commonly called a pinched nerve. This is often
the result
of a mechanical or physical stress from which the body
could not recover.
2. Facilitated
Subluxation: an elongation or twisting
of the spinal cord and associated nervous tissue. This
is most likely associated with emotional, mental, or chemical
stress from which the body-mind could not recover.

Electrical
Muscle Stimulation is used to reduce swelling and pain,
reduce muscle spasms and increase cellular metabolism in the
body to increase the speed of healing and strengthen muscles.
Hot/Cold Packs hot and cold
packs are therapies used during treatment to reduce swelling
and pain, increase blood flow and relax muscles in spasm.
Intersegmental Traction
(IST) gently
helps re-establish the normal ranges of ones spine. IST also
helps facilitate muscle relaxation and reduce muscle spasms.
IST Mobilizes the spinal column while simultaneously and gently
stretching ligaments and muscles.
Myofascial Release (MFR) is
an effective hands-on technique of manual massage for stretching
the fascia (a strong connective tissue that provides structural
support and protection to the muscle), with the goal of eliminating
pain, increasing range of motion and balancing the body.
Interferential Therapy is
a state-of-the-art physical therapy modality which can help
in reducing pain and speeding up healing times. Interferential
has been proven to be an effective approach for acute and
chronic pain control without the side effects often associated
with pain-relieving medications. We use interferential for
the following conditions: acute and chronic pain, muscle
spasms, sprains, strains, muscle knots, muscle trigger points,
swelling, tendonitis, bursitis, disc lesions, sciatica, and
arm or leg pain/numbness/tingling.
*Interferential therapy should not be used over metallic
implants, pregnancy, cancer, heart/pacemaker, or open wounds*
Laser Therapy is the use
of specific wavelengths of light (red and near infrared) to
create therapeutic effects. These effects include improved
healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation and decreased
swelling. The word "LASER" is an acronym for Light Amplification
by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.
Microcurrent stimulation therapy uses
extremely small amounts of electrical current (millionths of
an amp) to help relieve pain and enhance the healing of soft
tissues of the body. Microcurrent Stimulation Therapy
can help speed the healing process, reduce swelling and inflammation,
release muscle trigger points, and improve soft tissue regeneration.
